Lead Pastor

Joe and Erika Bain have served Parkwood Church since 2021. They come to Parkwood with 20 years of ministry experience. Over the 20 years of ministry Joe and Erika have focused their time with students and children. Joe and Erika married in 2002 and have 3 boys – Malachi, Josiah and Judah.

Chad & Connie Awtrey

Worship & Media Pastors

Chad and Connie Awtrey joined Parkwood in 2021 after relocating from North Carolina with their daughter Lily. They bring more than 20 years of experience leading contemporary praise and worship at charismatic churches across the nation. Connie received her music performance degree from Bemidji State University and her M.S. degree in Information Technology and Management from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Chad received his music performance degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his mathematics Ph.D. from Arizona State University; he currently serves as Chair of the Department of Math and Computer Science at Samford University.

Holly & Phillip Porter

Children’s Pastor

Holly Porter has served in children’s ministry for over 30 years. She has a passion for making a difference in the lives of today’s youth and helping children develop as disciples of Jesus Christ. Holly’s mission is to fulfill the command in Proverbs 22:6 to “train a child in the way they should go.” She is a licensed minister in the Church of God, and serves on the Alabama Youth and Children’s Leader Association board. She is a member of the Church of God Children’s Leaders Association, and has led several kids crusades in both Alabama and in Mexico. Holly was the 2020 recipient of the Shepherd’s Cup at the Focus Children’s Leaders Conference. Holly has been a public school teacher for over 16 years.

She has been married to Phillip since 1999, and they have two beautiful daughters, Marybeth and Makiley.

Mason A. Brown

Connections Pastor

Mason has been serving at Parkwood since January 2022. He began his ministry work in the Junior High Ministry and then expanded his involvement to include Junior High, High School, and Young Adult Ministries. Mason currently serves as the Connections and Young Adult Pastor. He attended Highlands College for a year, where he studied ministry, and holds a Psychology degree from the University of Montevallo. Before joining Parkwood, Mason interned at multiple churches and served in various ministries. Mason’s goal for Parkwood is to help people find a home church and become connected within the church community. He aims to build a strong Young Adult Ministry that encourages members to share the gospel and discover their purpose within the church.

Joshua & Jaylen Cooper

Youth Pastors

Joshua and Jaylen Cooper started serving at Parkwood Church as Youth Pastors in June of 2025. After volunteering at Oasis Church for 6 years, Joshua became an Ordained Minister in the Church of God, shortly after they decided to move into full-time ministry at Parkwood. Joshua and Jaylen have a shared passion for this generation to know, love, and experience Jesus. In a world so filled with noise and distractions, they want to point youth to the peace that can be found within Jesus and a deep-rooted youth group. They share a vision for a youth ministry that welcomes any and all youth to our facility and for it to feel like and be their home. They look to create a community that encourages genuine fellowship and an intimate relationship with Christ.
