Joe and Erika Bain have served Parkwood Church since 2021. They come to Parkwood with 20 years of ministry experience. Over the 20 years of ministry Joe and Erika have focused their time with students and children. Joe and Erika married in 2002 and have 3 boys – Malachi, Josiah and Judah.


Chad & Connie Awtrey

Worship Pastors

Chad and Connie Awtrey joined Parkwood in 2021 after relocating from North Carolina with their daughter Lily. They bring more than 20 years of experience leading contemporary praise and worship at charismatic churches across the nation. Connie received her music performance degree from Bemidji State University and her M.S. degree in Information Technology and Management from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Chad received his music performance degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his mathematics Ph.D. from Arizona State University; he currently serves as Chair of the Department of Math and Computer Science at Samford University.


Holly & Phillip Porter

Children’s Pastors

Holly Porter has served in children’s ministry for over 30 years. She has a passion for making a difference in the lives of today’s youth and helping children develop as disciples of Jesus Christ. Holly’s mission is to fulfill the command in Proverbs 22:6 to “train a child in the way they should go.” She is a licensed minister in the Church of God, and serves on the Alabama Youth and Children’s Leader Association board. She is a member of the Church of God Children’s Leaders Association, and has led several kids crusades in both Alabama and in Mexico. Holly was the 2020 recipient of the Shepherd’s Cup at the Focus Children’s Leaders Conference. Holly has been a public school teacher for over 16 years.

She has been married to Phillip since 1999, and they have two beautiful daughters, Marybeth and Makiley.


Mason A. Brown

Next Generations Pastor

Mason serves as our Next Generation Pastor, overseeing students and young adults since January 2022. He has completed internships at multiple churches and received ministry training from Highlands College. Mason holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Montevallo. Outside of his pastoral duties, he enjoys working out and exploring thrift stores. You can often find him at Academy or spending time with his family.
